Evaluation of the Trial of the National Disability Insurance Scheme

The National Institute of Labour Studies (NILS), at Flinders University, is leading a consortium that is evaluating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) trial. This independent evaluation has been commissioned by the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS).

The NILS-led team is monitoring and evaluating the experience of participants, and their families and carers, service providers and their workforces in the trial sites of the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, New South Wales, Northern Territory, South Australia and Tasmania.

The Evaluation Team are deeply grateful to all participants of the NDIS Evaluation for generously giving their time and for sharing their personal experiences.

2017 NDIS Survey of Disability Support Providers

The Evaluation Team are contacting organisations and self-employed providers about doing the survey online. There is still time to take part in the survey – either by completing the paper survey or going online. If you haven’t received a link to do the survey online please contact the toll free help line 1800 559 104 or email ndisevaluation@flinders.edu.au.

We would like to have the participation of as many disability support workers as possible. We’re asking participating organisations to circulate the details of the online the survey to employees. To read more on the worker survey, click on the link: Information about the employee survey.

The evidence we collect will help individual providers and the whole sector not only to place themselves in the Australian labour market of today, but also to benchmark critical strategic decisions during the formative years of the full NDIS roll out.

2017 NDIS Survey of Disability Support Providers

Thousands of providers and tens of thousands of their disability support workers have been invited to take part in the survey. This is a major data collection from disability support organisations and workers on the roll-out of the NDIS and what is happening in the sector. It is a sector wide opportunity to inform the evaluation about the impacts of the NDIS, workforce issues and how the sector is responding.

The Department of Social Services has sent out a letter this month, to the disability support providers invited to take part in the survey about the importance of this data collection. The Department is encouraging the uptake of the survey by the whole sector, including organisations, workers and the self-employed.
